Bio
I was born in Decatur, Georgia 20 years ago. The middle of three sons, I often found myself in a dilemma between the “you’re too young, sit down” mindset and the “knock it off, it’s time to grow up”. Where I would (and still do) find peace, is in writing stories.
I come from a family of storytellers. My father tells them through oil paintings, my mother through elegant and expressive speech. Middle school was when I realized I could actually take all of the characters, lines, plots, and stories from my mind and throw them on a blank sheet of paper. I wrote my first book in 8th grade, my second in 10th, and finished my 3rd in the waning days of high school. All the while imagining these stories as intricate feature-length films in my head.
Editing has also been an area where I can decompress and immerse myself into my mind. It can be daunting at times; knowing that a poor editing job can send a project into the gutter, but what keeps me motivated is that the opposite is possible too. A great editing job can send a “good” project to the “amazing” level.
When it came to deciding a major for college, choosing anything other than Film just didn’t make sense. My current writing project is a screenplay that will become a film one day, titled “The Ghost of Saint Louie”. I plan to continue harnessing my style and methods through dozens of short films throughout my college years, until I finally feel ready to take on the task of transforming my finished screenplay into my first feature-length film.
I see any opportunity I can get my hands on in the film world as a positive one. I know that becoming truly great at something takes even more than just time and effort. I’m looking to immerse myself and learn through any way possible.
